Thematic Program on

Computational Partial Differential Equations

Duration: 04 months

Academic Year: 2011 – 2012

The subject of the fifth thematic program is Computational Partial Differential Equations and has a duration of four months. In this thematic program we imbed the following two one-week-long workshops:

  • Adaptive and multiresolution methods in PDEs
    Adaptive and multiresolution methods for Partial Differential Equations have been developing since the pioneering work of Babuška, Harten and others. The development of this activity was initiated by important contributions from both Mathematicians and Engineers. Recent developments will be discussed related to convergence of adaptive algorithms, a posteriori error control, multiresolution methods for linear and nonlinear PDEs.

  • Novel Techniques in the Numerical Solution of PDEs
    This workshop will focus on recent developments and explore new directions in scientific computing related to the numerical solution of PDEs.
